Taigh Na Mara Bed & Breakfast

Set in a lovely garden with the uncrowded beach of Kuaotunu just a couple of minutes walk away, Taigh na Mara offers a great central location for exploring the Coromandel and all it has to offer.

Taigh Na Mara is the Gaelic translation for House by the Sea and travellers from NZ and around the world are invited to come and share this little piece of paradise on the Coromandel with your host, Carol.

This purpose built B&B combines all the great qualities of well appointed guest accommodation, along with the comforts and character of a beautiful home. The gardens come complete with petanque court and plenty of space. Delicious home cooked food, with many vegetables and fruit sourced straight from the garden will be a key feature of your stay. While a continental or cooked breakfast is included, Carol loves to cook and will happily provide other meals or snacks for you by arrangement. You are also welcome to have your own picnic meals. While he stays away from the guest rooms, he can be seen around the shared areas and therefore the house may not be suitable for those with cat allergies.

Kuaotunu is one of the hidden gems of the Coromandel and is a great place for beach and bush walks, fishing, kayaking, and enjoying the beautiful beaches in the area. The village store, and Luke's Kitchen, an excellent café and restaurant for casual eating, are a short walk away. The town of Whitianga is just a 20 minute drive away and has a number of lovely restaurants, supermarkets, and access to many activities such as boat trips, the Lost Spring thermal pools and spa, or perhaps some horse riding. Two golf courses are nearby, and there is a tennis court just across the playing field from Taigh na Mara. Of course if you just want some time to relax, then this is definitely the spot for you.
