Our bed and breakfast, Waipiata, is a unique, luxury experience. Just 30 minutes north of Auckland and designed by internationally renowned architect Noel Lane, this lodge is resting on a rural headland, nestled in native trees at the watersâ€™s edge. It is a secluded location to rest or to kayak, swim and hike and yet close to beautiful regional parks and beaches, Goat Island marine reserve, Tititiri Matangi bird sanctuary, Tawharanui bird and marine sanctuary, Pakiri Beach, Puhoi historic Bohemian village, sculpture parks and Matakana vineyards.
We have two guest rooms and one self contained (breakfast provided) studio. There is a large 20 metre pool, a firepit, boardwalks, kayaks, bush and farm trails.
In the main house, the guest rooms are super king or twin, luxurious and beautifully appointed, the floor to ceiling glass walls and large private decks highlighting the proximity of the water, native bush and birdlife. Both rooms have en suite bathrooms with heated mirrors and heated towel rails, bathrobes and luxurious natural toiletries. Tea and coffee making facilities and home baking.

Your breakfast is poolside, our breakfasts famous for the gourmet cooking and featuring produce from the Waipiata garden or locally sourced.
In our new self contained, romantic studio, The Pavilion, king bed, luxurious and beautifully appointed with Dedon furntiture and art works by New Zealand artists. A large deck to enjoy the views and proximity of the water, native bush and birdlife. The bathroom has underfloor heating, thick thirsty bathrobes and quality natural NZ toiletries. Heat pump. TV, stereo, cds, dvds. The well appointed kitchen contains full breakfast provisions, complimentary non alcoholic beverages, dishwasher and other treats. Your gourmet breakfast provisions feature gourmet dishes prepared in the Waipiata kitchen, organically grown produce from the Waipiata garden or locally sourced.

Art and sculpture abound and guests are invited to wander and view this. We can advise and arrange visits to sculpture parks and galleries.
Birdlovers. Tui, kereru, wax-eye, fantails, white-faced heron, oyster catchers, pukeko and many other endemic and introduced birds.
Sustainability. Waipiata is designed to maximise the use of passive solar and thermal mass. Thousands of native trees have been planted, rain water is the sole water supply and waste water is purified and fed back to the land. The large orchard, vegetable and herb gardens are grown following organic practices. We are delighted to received the Enviro-Gold award.
